When will the Home Joule be available? |

How does the Home Joule get its information? |
|
The Home Joule will be undergoing beta testing June 2007, in the NYC area and in limited testing outside New York City, mostly among participants in Demand Response programs. We will have more available near the end of 2007. You may have to be patient if you are not in New York City, however. . |

The Joule receives its information through a pager network and does not measure anything in your space. ConsumerPowerline receives energy prices and other data from the regional market where you live or (if available) from advanced metering in your space. We convert the information into useful form, and transmit the data to Ambient, who then uses their information network to update your Home Joule. . |

How often is the information updated? |

It is updated a few times per hour. |

Will the Home Joule display my individual apartment’s energy usage? |
|
Probably not. Only if you are separately and individually metered or sub-metered and the data is available to us, will we be able to send that information to your Home Joule. This may be available only at extra cost. If your specific information is not available, the energy usage may be from your region, representing your larger community’s overall usage. |

Who will be receiving it? |
|
For the initial beta testing, ConsumerPowerline clients in Demand Response programs will be approached as well as a limited number of other users. These clients will be multifamily residential complexes, commercial property owners, institutional users (hospitals and schools), and industrials. People whose energy use can be metered and whose data can be passed on to us will be preferred for testing, since we would like to assess the impact of the Home Joule on their energy use. |

Where will it be available? |
|
It will be available mainly in New York City and the immediate vicinity during the summer of 2007 for beta testing. There will be some available for testing outside of New York City on a case by case basis, especially in areas where summer energy prices are very high and from people whose feedback would be especially valuable. General availability will follow testing, feedback, and resulting modifications. |
